Final Quarter Tax Deadlines: Stay on Track for 2025

As we move into the year’s final quarter, it’s time for the final update for the 2024/2025 tax year, covering October to December 2025.

Whether you’re a limited company director, subcontractor, or self-employed, keeping on top of these dates will help you avoid unnecessary fines or HMRC pressure.

Key tax deadlines:

  • 1 October 2025 – Corporation Tax payment is due for the accounting year ending 31 December 2024.

  • 5 October 2025 – The last day to register for Self-Assessment if you are newly self-employed or need to file for another reason.

  • 31 October 2025 – The deadline for submitting paper Self-Assessment tax returns.

31 October is also the deadline for our self-employed clients to submit all income and expense information to us. This ensures the timely submission of their Self-Assessment returns.

  • 30 December 2025 – The deadline for submitting an online Self-Assessment if you owe less than £3,000 and want the tax collected through your PAYE tax code.

  • 30 December 2025 – The deadline for filing accounts with Companies House for the accounting year ending 31 March 2025.

  • 31 January 2026 – The final deadline for online Self-Assessment filing and payment of tax owed for 2024/2025.

VAT deadlines:

For VAT-registered businesses, VAT return and payment deadlines follow the same pattern: 1 month plus 7 days after the end of your VAT accounting period.

Our tips to help you stay on track:

  • Set reminders well in advance of each deadline.

  • Keep your income, expenses, and accounts organised.

  • If you are a client of ours, make sure you keep up to date with your emails, as we will contact you with reminders of upcoming deadlines.

  • If you have any questions or are worried about meeting any of these deadlines, get in touch with us. Using an accountant can help make the process easier and ensure everything is submitted correctly and on time.

  • For more information on any of these dates, visit the Self Assessment tax returns: Deadlines – GOV.UK, VAT – GOV.UK

Staying aware of these deadlines ensures a smooth year-end without unnecessary stress. Check your dates now and plan ahead for a hassle-free filing season.
